PROJECTS

Pedestal Oil – In our first ever project, ELC worked with Land Legacy, a Tulsa based land trust, and Edmond’s Cross-Timbers group to obtain a conservation easement from Pedestal Oil Company covering a valuable half-mile stretch of Interstate 35 frontage just south of Danforth Road.  Additional tree cover was added to the property.

Chitwood Farm – With the help of Turner Development, the Chitwood family, the USDA and our friends at Land Legacy, ELC has permanently preserved a 100-acre meadow in east Edmond, complete with buffalo wallows.  The conservation easement covering this scenic and historic meadow was purchased, in part, with funding from the USDA Farm and Ranchlands Protection Program, only the second such grant ever awarded in Oklahoma. Green Infrastructure Initiative – ELC is participating with the City of Edmond and the Oklahoma Forestry Services in the early stages of developing a green infrastructure plan for Edmond.  Look for updates on this exciting project.
